Chelsea are doing everything they can to be back in the Champions League next season. The win over West Ham United on Monday evening moved them up to third in the English Premier League. If their bid to get a top four finish fails, there's always the back-door of winning the Europa League to achieve their aim. Chelsea won their group with ease winning five of their six games. The last 32 saw them comfortably dispose of Malmo FF and Dinamo Kiev proved no opposition at all losing 8-0 on aggregate. That's the Dinamo Kiev who beat Slavia Prague in the third qualifying round of this season's Champions League.
Slavia Prague came from behind to beat Sevilla in the last 16 but did concede three goals in the second leg in the Czech Republic. They finished second behind Zenit St Petersburg in the group stages and didnt concede a home goal with two matches won and a goalless draw with FC Copenhagen. Prague are seven points clear at the top of the Czech League so look Champions League bound next season. They have gone ten home games without defeat and in five home Europa League games this season are unbeaten with four clean sheets. Chelsea are in form though and they can get a narrow away win here.
Ajax were champions of Europe several decades ago but they are five games away from winning the Champions League. They beat Real Madrid in the last 16 but had to do it the hard way after losing the home first leg 2-1. Then they stunned their opponents with a 4-1 away win and it was Ajax through to the last eight and bye bye to another Real Madrid manager. Ajax had to beat Dinamo Kiev to get through to the group stages but then finished second behind Bayern Munich drawing both of their games against the German champions. Home form has seen them only lose to Real Madrid in their last ten games in the Champions League.
Juventus also had to come from behind to reach the quarter-finals. They lost 2-0 away to Atletico Madrid but a brilliant performance from Cristiano Ronaldo saw them win the home leg 3-0 to reach the last eight. They are miles clear at the top of Serie A so can concentrate on winning the Champions League. They had to get past Manchester United and Valencia to reach the last 16 The Italian champions had won five away Champions League away games in a row before losing to Young Boys (weakened side played as they'd already qualified) and Atletico Madrid. A double chance bet on Juventus to win or draw this game is the bet to go for.
Like last year this is a bad match-up for Porto, Porto doesn't handle well high quality transitions and Liverpool will give them huge problems once again like we saw in Porto one year ago who they beat them by 5:0, in Anfield it ended 0:0 but that game was like a friendly game for Liverpool, this is the 1st leg and I wouldn't be surprised here to see Liverpool dealing this series right away. Having Pepe and Herrera suspended for the game doesn't help Porto either here and I believe that Alex Telles plays here, but if he somehow misses here things will be even worst for them, overall, I do expect Liverpool at least winning here by 2 goals.
